As "Crooks" in Of Mice and Men (Freddy's 1st time acting).

In 1996 while attending Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC, director Donegan Smith (retired stage, TV, and film actor), needed a black actor. Following a private reading with Mr. Smith, Freddy was cast for the role of Crooks. The rest, as they say, is history. Following his breakout performance as Crooks, Donegan cast Freddy as Jim Casey in Of Mice and Men, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, then as Othello in Othello. Freddy won the Sam Baker Award, scholarship and Best Actor Award for his portrayal of Othello.

Freddy's also performed in community and outdoor theatre productions.

Healthy Heart App Commercial (2022)

In 2022 Freddy worked on a Healthy Heart App commercial in Spokane, WA, with Colormatics Productions. Although Freddy worked on other commercials and informercials, this was his first speaking role in a national ad, seen on YouTube and other social media platforms. Additionally, Freddy also appeared in a national FedEx 2022 Holiday print/website ad.

Freddy also learned a valuable lesson from his manager, Marie Fonrose: "Never sign a contract that has IN PERPITUITY in it. An agent should NEVER allow you to do that!"

Freddy's also appeared in infomercials, industrial videos, and regional commercials (Kohl's).

The Last Confederate: Story of Robert Adams (2004) Freddy's first speaking role in a feature film.

While working at a restaurant in Hickory, NC, late actor Eric Holloway recalled seeing Freddy act on stage at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Eric approached Freddy at Backstreets Bar & Grill, said he'd be great for a role in a civil war movie to be filmed in North and South Carolina. Months later, Freddy was on set as "Quash" with the late great actor Mickey Rooney, Lee Majors, Tippy Hedrin, Amy Redford, Julian Adams, Eric Holloway, and Gwendolyn Edwards (pictured).

Not only was it a great experience for Freddy as an actor, it was a great experience for Freddy as an aspiring screenwriter having the opportunity to re-write some of Mickey's scenes during a hectic day on set.

"Quash, you're pretty sharp! Stick with it," were the words of advice Mickey gave Freddy.
