Freddy l Robinson is an emerging actor, screenwriter, director, producer (for stage and screen), and a rising author who finished as a finalist and/or winner in several international screenplay contests in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2022, 2023, and 2024, with over a dozen screenplays he wrote. His biggest year thus far is 2024, winning 14 awards in various international film festivals and screenplay contests with his feature length screenplay "Tartaroo." He's enjoyed acting in productions in California, Washington State, and North Carolina, where he's met and learned from various A-list to legendary actors including the late yet never forgotten actor; Mickey Rooney. Freddy is a Hickory native who was raised in Southern California, but returned to Hickory in 1994. Freddy graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater in 1999. While attending Lenoir-Rhyne College, Freddy earned the Sam Baker/Best Actor Award and Scholarship for his role in the Shakespeare production Othello, as Othello. Aside from acting, writing, and directing for stage, Freddy also learned the crafts of acting, writing, and directing for screen under former professor and retired actor Donegan Smith. In 2019, Freddy published his suspense tech thriller "Virtual: Book 1 Invited" through Amazon. In 2021, Freddy also resumed screenwriting receiving seven Official Selections, two Winner Awards, and two Finalist Awards in various international film festivals with his feature length animation screenplay "Tucked In The Cut." Freddy has several screenplays circulating through various international film festivals that include: Short scripts, feature scripts, half hour sitcom script, one hour pilot script, with genres ranging from drama and comedy, to crime and a suspense thriller set against a paranormal backdrop. In 2021 and 2022, Freddy had several screenplays win international screenplay contests, started acting in commercials while also auditioning for more movies, and putting together his own projects.
Freddy has also been a reader and judge for numerous international screenplay competitions. He's served as a reader and editor for Youth Vision Inc in Los Angeles, California, a non-profit organization that helps young writers publish their literary works through Amazon.
Some of Freddy's favorite charities include Union Gospel Mission, St. Jude's Hospital, Operation Smile, The V-Foundation, and World Vision.
